Each Anzac Day, we pause in recognition of members of the Australian Defence Force who made the ultimate sacrifice. We are also reminded that when the guns fall silent, there are families within our community who still live with the loss of a parent or partner.

For Amy and her three sons, Sam (18), Luke (16) and Ollie (14), Anzac Day is another important reminder of the man they lost to leukaemia, eight years ago.

“We weren’t expecting it. Losing Tim was the worst-case scenario and it happened.”

When he was alive, Tim served in the RAAF 77th Squadron. He was a corporal and a gunnie. But above all, he was a loving husband and dad.

Tim passed away at the young age of 34… and amidst grieving the loss of her husband and partner, Amy found herself a single mum on a single income, trying to stay strong for three little boys.

This Anzac Day, as you honour the fallen, I urge you to also remember our veterans’ families.

Your donation can give a widowed mum like Amy the help and support she desperately needs to get back on her feet. So she can ensure her kids don’t miss out on anything… especially their education.
